Jamie Foxx was injured after someone threw a glass that struck him in the mouth, his representative said amid reports the comedian was involved in a fight at a Beverly Hills, California, restaurant.

The altercation occurred just after 10 p.m. Friday at Mr. Chow. Beverly Hills police said officers initially received a call about a “possible assault with a deadly weapon” but determined it was unfounded, a news release states.

“Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties,” police said.

A preliminary investigation was conducted and police completed a report documenting the alleged battery. No arrests have been made.

A representative for Foxx said he was celebrating his birthday at the restaurant when someone at another table allegedly “threw a glass that hit him in the mouth.” He turned 57 on Friday.

“He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands,” Foxx’s representative said.

The incident follows the release Tuesday of Foxx’s Netflix special “What Had Happened Was” in which he shares that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke last year. Foxx said he underwent surgery at an Atlanta hospital and then received rehabilitation at a facility in Chicago.
